In the 21st century, the latest technology is helpless against an onslaught of horrific, trans-dimensional predators. The solution : an elite squad of modern-day "witches", know as the A.M.P., who combine scientific training, modern police procedure and natural psionic powers to combat threats which originate from beyond the normal plane of existence.
The story begins in 2028 A.D. The A.M.P. race to head off a trans-dimensional "invasion" atop one of Tokyo's newest skyscrapers, still under construction. But AMP officer Katsumi Liqueur knows that she has met this powerful foe before...
Flashback: Four years earlier as Katsumi, not yet a member of the A.M.P., comes to Tokyo to care for her ailing mother. The unsuspecting young woman soon becomes a magnet for a series of attacks by unspeakable horrors. The A.M.P. discover that Katsumi, like her mother, has strong psychic talents. After a tragic incident, Katsumi is compelled to join this elite police unit.
Now, Katsumi must once again face Lucifer Hawke, the cunning leader of the supernatural beings which prey upon humanity. But, in the intervening years her adversary has grown even stronger than she expects.
